Statues for 3d clix map Botanical Gardens

Here is 4 statues for a 3d clix map i am making.

Why not paint over Cap's shield? Couldn't bring yourself to do that or is there a reason why the statue would have the shield painted or made out of something different than the rest of the statues?

Good question. I felt that capts shield should have been left red to really draw your eye to it. It definitely is the focal point of the statue with it red as opposed to stone. :avengers:

I love how you made each of them look like stone! Nice job. Care to show your technique?

Hey, thanks for the comments. Technique is very simple. All you have to do is grey prime and base coat each figure with flat black paint. Then I use a darker grey and drybrush the whole piece. With any even lighter grey i drybrush the piece again. With an even lighter grey i drybrush just the higher points of the figure. Then with white i will drybrush ont the higest point of the figure(top of the shoulders, head)
Basically the goal is to leave the deepest recesses black and the highest points of the figure white with grades of grey blending in the white and black.

When painting any miniature try to think like the sun, using black for recesses and white for the reflection points.
