Yeah, I have time to play, but not time to run.

I am in the same boat of no time to run it, but after I finish my 2-year in August if we (my gf & I) are going to get married and decide her Masters is better than my Bachelors i may have more free time starting next year. I know that doesn't help now, but I can at least commit to the long term of the site if someone else can do some moving and shaking.

Quick thought:

If we do a bare bones booster draft league (or a bare bones CMOHC* style) I can manage it since I'd only have to post the game threads and standing every other Monday (and in the CMOHC keep track of who played what).

How about this for an idea. Evert game the captains do a booster draft. (say of 3 boosters) to determine what figures they have available. But the twist is you keep a running record of what figures you pulled. The next game you do another booster draft but you can also use figures you pulled from the previous game. You keep doing that fr a few turns generating your roster that way...

For example: Game 1. I pull 3 boosters and build a 300 point team from that like you usual booster draft game.
Game 2. I pull 3 more boosters but now I can create a team using figures from the 3 boosters I just pulled AND from the figures I pulled in Game 1. Keep repeating.

Perhaps every 4th game you up the point total by 100. So the first three games are 300 point games, the 4th, 5th and 6th games are 400 point games, the 7th, 8th, 9th games are 500 pointers, etc...

You don't worry about KO's or max games or whatever. You start off with a limited roster that keeps growing as you progress farther in the league...

It shouldn't require too much book keeping to keep track of. Even if you only get 6 or 8 people playing in it, it would be still a viable side league.

I like the idea, but wuld rather not see the entire booster pull be your roster, and limiting what sets you can pull from.

something like this...

Rd 1- pull three boosters (from any sets.). pick 300 point team play game.
decide which figure will be a permanent roster member...that set cannot be pulled again.

Rd 2- pull three boosters (any sets except the one your roster member from) pick 300 point team. play game.... decide which figure after game to add to your permanent roster.

Rd 3 rinse repeat.

rd 4 rinse repeat increasing point cost +100 (increase point match +100 after every third game...so at 7 500 at 10 600 at 13 700)

rd 5 rinse repeat

rd 6 rinse repeat lessening boosters pulled by 1 (2 from now until game 11 when you lessen it by 1 again.)

play 15 games. by which you will have 14 permanent roster members and 1 booster.

playoffs are a smackdown of your permament 15 team members


Feats & BFC's can never be kept but can be used during the normal season and only as fillers in the smackdown at the end.

That method sounds good as well.

"ok!" I'd like to run that, may or may not play, but can produce threads, store data, etc. However I'd need to know how many sets are working (and modify the rules slightly if less than 15) and if Hero or RJ have the time to commit to adding all of them. I know RJC keeps testing a really cool looking dial thing, so maybe Clix and I can sit down and see how his rules could be used in the current enviroment or if it is worth waiting x-months till Hero and RJ have more time. But I do think it would be cool to have a second league going. I think Twinky and Rob (if they want) get to be the first signed up since they missed the PFHL... any objections?

Something going would be good. My clix addiction is kicking in again and I need more.

Now that there could be plans of a new league, what about CMOHC? Will that be making a comeback as well?

I've been drafting up ideas for the CMOHC this year, should be posting about some interest soon. What I'd like to do is make it a small fundraiser (like $5 entry fee) and get a couple prizes for the pool. I have an extra Anti-Monitor lying around from an "acquisition" and if the total gets high enough, I may be persuaded to add my similarly acquired Spectre to the pool. RJC's been an IM ghost recently, but I'm going to keep trying to catch him and throw around ideas.

Idea 1:
Same old song and dance. 300 point team, built once at the beginning, used throughout the tournament.

Idea 2:
Bigger and Better. 300 points for the first round, 400 for the second and so forth. If we get a turnout that requires more than 4 rounds, round one would be reverted to 200 points.

Idea 3:
World cup style. Play X games within a division, with one or two top players advancing, as well as X number of best record players.

Idea 4:
Round and round the robin goes. X rounds of complete round robin (probably 4 rounds), cut to top 8 after.

Idea 5:
Swiss like cheese. Winners play winners, losers play losers, top 8 after X rounds.

Idea 6:
The same, but different. Use one of the above ideas, but with either sealed boosters or booster drafts (the I pick, you pick style).

I should have a sub-forum and some threads up sometime soon, but I really want to wait until June to start this, giving people time to get ready, new rules to be officially released, and any potential prizes to be gathered. Also, this is completely open to new players (which is why we may forego the fee) and I highly encourage people to put the word out on subsequent sites.

I could throw in some extra uniques as prize stuff -- nothing amazing -- but I do have some doubles

I like any methods that are not one and done.

I also think Badger's idea of an anchor and yours of the gradually increasing team build would be majorly fun.

I'd also suggest using the most current tourney rules once they are finalized by WK.

If people want a new league and need someone to datemine/run the thing, I'm game to comish the $#!+ outta it. Since returning a few weeks ago, I've found having something to focus on has helped my overall mind-set.
